FROM NEW MEXICO TO INDIA, DRUG-FREE WORLD TEAMS CELEBRATE UN DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE
As is tradition, in honor of the United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Drug-Free World volunteers across the globe set up events, concerts and mass distribution.

That is why the Foundation for a Drug-Free World works daily to educate and empower youth everywhere with the facts. They stepped up this endeavor last June 26th in honor of the United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, to get the truth out even further and bring us that much closer to a drug-free Earth.
From Québec, Canada to Jodhpur, India, dozens of events were held along with broad-scale distribution of information.

Take Brussels, Belgium, a city once called the cocaine capital of Europe. There, Drug-Free World teams from Greece, France, Italy and Austria came together for a forum covering the state of drug abuse and the importance of prevention across Europe. Attended by diplomats, drug abuse counselors and community leaders, the forum was the highlight of a week-long drive in which 100 store owners handed out booklets at registers while volunteers distributed to the man on the street. This resulted in getting 30,000 booklets into the hands of Belgians.
Meanwhile, the St. Petersburg, Russia Drug-Free World team celebrated with a concert in an outdoor park, during which hundreds of audience members signed individual pledges to live a drug-free life. Each pledge was attached to a balloon, with 400 simultaneously released into the sky, sending an appeal to all inhabitants of Earth to live drug-free.
The Pretoria, South Africa team, however, won the numbers game, handing out over 100,000 The Truth About Drugs booklets in the weeks leading up to June 26th and reaching 842,000 on social media with the message to live a drug-free life and why.
